Ceramic coatings for electric vehicles are nano-structured silicon dioxide or polymer-based surface treatments that chemically bond with automotive paint to create a hydrophobic, chemically resistant protective layer measuring 2-5 microns thick. These coatings function at the molecular level by cross-linking hydroxyl groups on the paint surface with siloxane bonds, forming a semi-permanent barrier that repels water, contaminants, and UV radiation far more effectively than traditional waxes or sealants.
